How much does earthing and bonding cost?
Bonding brought up to standard is £150 to £400. An earth rod installed and tested is £120 to £250. Both are usually done alongside other work, which is much the cheaper way to buy them.

Have it done at the same time as a consumer unit change. The isolation, the testing and the certificate are happening anyway, and the marginal cost is roughly half what the same work costs as its own visit.
What moves the price
- How far the gas and water entry points are from the main earthing terminal.
- Whether the route is accessible or runs under floors and through cupboards.
- The earthing arrangement, which sets the conductor sizes.
- Whether a rod is needed, and what the ground is like where it goes.
- Whether supplementary bonding is required, which depends on whether the installation meets the conditions for leaving it out.
- Making good where a conductor has to be chased or a floor lifted.

Why does my EV charger need an earth rod?
Because on a PME supply a fault on the supply neutral can put a voltage on anything earthed outdoors, including a car on charge. A rod or a charger with open PEN detection built in removes that path.
Bonding came up as a C2 on my report. Is that serious?
It is potentially dangerous rather than dangerous now, which is what C2 means. It is also among the cheapest items on a typical report to put right, usually an afternoon.
