Terms
Terms for electrician plans and listings
Listing on yourelectrician.trade is free for every UK electrician. These terms cover claiming a listing and Premium, the one paid plan, at £12 a month plus VAT. You can cancel renewal at any time and your subscription will not renew any further. You accept them with a tick box before you pay, and we keep a record of the date.
Who we are
This site is run by yourelectrician.trade, 7 Princes St, Edinburgh. To reach us, use the contact form or write to the address above.
Listings
A listing is free, claimed or not, and stays free. Corrections are made without charge. A listing can be removed only by the business's verified owner: claim it free to verify it is yours, then remove it from your dashboard.
How listings are ordered
The main parameters that decide the order of listings on a town page, a service page for a town and any other list of results, in order of importance: listings with Premium paid up are shown towards the top of their town's lists, and when several in a town have Premium they take turns at the top, changing each day; then how recently each listing was last checked; then how complete it is (a phone number, a website and an address); and businesses added to the site recently are shown after the rest. On a town nobody lists, those based within reach are shown nearest first after any with Premium. Premium listings are marked "Premium listing". We do not promise any particular position.
Claiming a listing
Claiming is free. It lets you correct your listing, see your monthly figures and buy Premium. A free claimed listing does not take enquiries: customers ring the number on it. A claim is accepted when your email address is on your own website's domain and that website names your business and shows its published phone number, or after a person checks it against the details your business publishes.
If the business changes hands
A listing has one owner. If someone else claims it, a person checks with the business on the phone number it publishes before anything changes. If the listing moves to a new owner, any Premium on it is cancelled at once with no further payments, its price list, availability, photos, note and badge are removed, the previous owner is signed out and told, and enquiries sent to the previous owner are never shown to the new one.
Premium
Premium, £12 a month plus VAT: an enquiry form on your profile, with each enquiry and its job card sent to your email and held in your dashboard, your price list with a price for each customer's job on your profile, your website as a clickable link on your listing, up to 24 photos, your availability, and a note above your enquiry form. Premium listings appear towards the top of your town's lists, town pages and service pages. When several businesses in a town have Premium, they take turns at the top. Only a listing with Premium paid up takes enquiries: the enquiry form is not shown on any other listing, and stops when Premium ends. Premium covers one listing. If you run two listings, for example in two towns under two names, each needs its own Premium for the paid tools to show on it.
The Owner verified badge
A listing showing the Owner verified (paid check) mark had its details confirmed with the business, on the phone number or email address it already publishes, within the last year, and its profile lists what was confirmed and when, one line for each. It confirms who runs the listing and what the listing says. It is not a check of the work, and it is not a check of competent person scheme registration: this site does not publish anybody's registration, so the mark never says a business is registered or certified for anything. A mark lasts a year from the day the details were confirmed, and comes off sooner if Premium ends. Renewing Premium does not extend a mark.
Buying as a business
Premium is sold to electrical businesses for use in the business, and you confirm that, and that you accept the terms, with a tick box before you pay. Because you buy for your business, the 14-day cancellation right that consumers have does not apply; you can still cancel at any time as set out below.
Price and VAT
Premium is the only paid plan, at £12 a month plus VAT. You can cancel renewal at any time and your subscription will not renew any further. VAT is charged on every payment at the standard rate of 20%, so Premium comes to £14.40 a month including VAT. A price change is emailed to you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before it does.
Payment and automatic renewal
Stripe takes payment in advance. Premium renews automatically every month until you cancel.
Cancelling and refunds
Any time, from Manage billing in your dashboard. It takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and the plan is not renewed after it. There are no refunds for part of a period except where the law requires one.
When Premium ends
The badge comes off at the end of the paid period. Your website shows as plain text again, and your price list, photos, reply note and availability stop showing at once, are kept for 90 days in case you come back, and are then deleted. No new enquiries can be sent; those received stay in your dashboard for 12 months. Your listing stays listed, no longer towards the top of your town's lists.
What you add to your profile
Your price list must be the prices you actually charge, and must say truthfully whether they include VAT. Your availability must be true while it shows: change it when it stops being true. Photos must be your own pictures of work you did, your van or your team, with the customer's agreement where their home can be recognised: no stock images and no other firms' work. A before and after pair must be the same job. Nothing you add may say or suggest a scheme registration, a certification or a membership you do not hold. A person sees every photo after it is uploaded. We may take down anything that breaks these rules, and we will tell you when we do.
Enquiries and customers' details
An enquiry carries a customer's contact details and job card so you can reply. Use them to answer that enquiry and to do the job, and for nothing else. The price a customer sees for their job comes from your own published prices and is labelled as yours; you agree the price with the customer before work starts. We take no lead fee and no commission, and we do not book work or take payment between customers and electricians; any arrangement you make, including how notifiable work is certified, is between you and the customer.
Limits on our liability
yourelectrician.trade is a directory. We do not check, guarantee or take responsibility for the work, prices, conduct or scheme registration of any business listed here, and any arrangement you make with one is between you and that business. We do not promise any number of views, calls or enquiries, or that the site will always be available.
We are not liable for loss of profit, business or goodwill, or for any loss we could not reasonably have foreseen. If you pay for Premium, our total liability to you for all claims arising from Premium, these terms or the site is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Ending an account
We may close an account that misuses customers' details or misrepresents the business, refunding any unused paid period. You can ask us to delete your account through the contact form: cancel Premium first, and we then delete the account, its settings, photos and claim, and the listing goes back to unclaimed.
Complaints
Tell us through the contact form or by post. We reply within two working days, and a person deals with the complaint in full within 14 days.
Changes and the law
A change to these terms is emailed to paying electricians at least 30 days before it applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute about them. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also use your local courts.
