How much does electric heating cost?
An electric panel radiator fitted is £250 to £600 and a high heat retention storage heater £350 to £700 each. A whole house changeover of six or seven units runs £2,500 to £5,000 including the electrical work.

Get the annual running cost estimated on the tariff you will actually be on before choosing between the two types. It is the number that decides this, and it is almost never the number on the showroom card.
What moves the price
- Whether the existing circuits and the off peak supply are being reused or rearranged.
- Spare ways in the consumer unit, and whether a larger board is needed.
- Main fuse rating and total connected load, in an all electric property.
- Heater type. Simple panel radiators, high heat retention storage and smart controlled units span a wide price range.
- Removal and disposal of old storage heaters, which are heavy and full of bricks.
- Whether metering and the time switch need changing, which may involve the energy supplier.

Questions about electric heating
Does each heater need its own circuit?
Fixed heaters are normally on dedicated circuits, sized to the load. It is why converting a whole house is a board and supply question before it is a heater question.
What about a heat pump instead?
For a house it usually wins on running cost, and it is a larger project with a different trade leading it. It is worth pricing before filling a house with electric radiators, because the two decisions are hard to unwind.
