Cost guide
How much does hot tub supply cost?
A dedicated supply is £350 to £800 on a short run. Across a garden with a trench it is £600 to £1,400, and more where a drive or patio has to be crossed.
Typical prices
Ranges, not quotes. A quote depends on your room.
| Work | Typical UK price |
|---|---|
| 13 amp outdoor socket on an existing circuit | £150 to £320 |
| 32 amp dedicated supply, short run | £350 to £800 |
| 32 amp supply with a garden trench | £600 to £1,400 |
| Crossing a drive or patio | £900 to £2,000 |
| Rotary isolator on a set post | £120 to £280 |
| Load management device fitted | £150 to £350 |
Send the manual to the electrician before the tub is ordered. The rating on page two decides whether this is a morning's work or a trench across the garden, and nobody enjoys finding that out on delivery day.
What moves the price
- Tub rating, 13 amp or 32 amp, which decides whether this is a socket or a circuit.
- Trench length and what it crosses.
- Spare capacity at the consumer unit, and whether a way has to be added.
- Main fuse rating and total household load, and whether load management is needed.
- Isolator position and whether a post has to be set.
- Reinstatement of turf, paving or decking.

Questions about hot tub supply
Will my supply take it?
Depends on the main fuse and what else is on it. A 32 amp tub alongside an electric shower and a car charger on a 60 amp supply needs load management or an upgrade, and that is a conversation to have before ordering.
Can the cable run above ground?
Not sensibly. Armoured cable buried at depth with warning tape is the normal answer, because anything across a garden at surface level meets a spade eventually.
