Selenium Energy is a family-run electrician business based in Winchester. Steve Higgins, a qualified electrician with 25 years on the tools, surveys properties, designs systems, carries out installations and signs certificates himself. The business installs solar PV systems, battery storage and retrofits, OZEV-authorised EV chargers, and provides full domestic and commercial electrical work including consumer unit upgrades, EICR inspections, rewiring, fault finding and emergency call-outs.
Most solar and battery installations are completed in a single day. The business works across Hampshire, Basingstoke, Southampton, Andover, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Reading and Oxford. Steve holds City and Guilds 2391 inspection and testing and is certified to BS 7671 18th Edition wiring regulations. Selenium Energy is NAPIT registered, Part P approved, RECC registered and OZEV authorised.
Jobs start with a free survey. A written quote lists the exact equipment, with a 25 per cent deposit to secure the installation date and the balance due on completion. Domestic solar and battery installations carry 0% VAT. Equipment fitted includes Fox ESS inverters and batteries, Duracell and Sigenergy storage, and Fox, Zappi, Ohme and Wallbox charge points. All workmanship carries a 2-year cover on top of manufacturer warranties up to 30 years. Solar, battery and electrical work are handled by the same electrician, so design, installation, testing and certification all happen in-house rather than being passed between separate trades.
